Our third annual schoolwide Readathon begins Monday, February 5 through Wednesday, March 5

This event raises money for our school’s PTO while encouraging SCS students to become lifelong readers. This year’s theme is READING IS SWEET and our goal is to read 130,000 minutes together!

It’s Time to Get Ready and Register!
The Readathon is now the PTO’s biggest fundraiser, raising money that directly supports field trips, author visits, teacher grants, staff appreciation days, recess and PE equipment, the Maker Space, literacy tools and books, and so much more.

This event is also a wonderful way to nurture your child’s love of reading while helping our school thrive. Every minute read and every donation makes a difference!

Our Goals for 2025:

Encourage all SCS students to read for 130,000+ minutes (up from 100,000!)

Raise $10,000+ to support our school’s programs and resources (up from $8,900!)

Find Some Great Books!
Books can be student read, audio books or read to students by adults. All minutes count!
- Join the Book Swap on Feb. 5 (6–7:30 PM) in the Green Team Common Space for free books (bonus: $2 pizza, crafts, and more)
- Shop at Phoenix Books in store or online at www.phoenixbooks.biz (Feb. 16–22). Mention/use code SCS at checkout and the PTO earns 20% back!

Add Family, Friends and Neighbors!
Invite everyone—from Grandma to neighbors—to support your readers! Love, encouragement, and hugs are just as meaningful as donations. Add their contacts to PledgeStar to help build a network of support for your reader’s efforts!

Encourage Reading and Log Your Children’s Minutes
Post the calendar and reading log at home to track reading progress. Starting 2/5, update your child’s log weekly on PledgeStar and follow the school-wide leaderboard. Cheer on your reader as they help their class compete for fun prizes and celebrate a love of reading!
It’s a Whole Month Of Great Events!
Its not just reading and donation. There’s a ton of great events to sweeten it up. Including bookswaps, book character days, authors and events at Phoenix book, a Scavenger hunt for prizes and more! ​
